A Network Event: Women's Leadership Alliance and Maine Women's Conference

This quarter, the Black Women’s Leadership Alliance and Maine Women’s Conference will be hosting a joint networking event at the Knitting Nook, South Portland on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The Knitting Nook is a Black and woman-owned yarn store and café serving delicious food, wine, beer and desserts in South Portland’s Ferry Village.

This networking event is aimed at creating a space for cross-cultural connections where we can learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives and grow our personal and professional networks. It will be an opportunity to meet like-minded women who are passionate about creating positive changes in their community and beyond.

Adilah Muhammad, Executive Director of The Third Place and Astride Jeannot-Bicknell, Board member Maine Women’s Conference will share their inspiring stories and insights on ways cross-cultural communication and collaboration among women can lead to more inclusive community and workplace environments.

If you are a Black woman in a leadership position either as an entrepreneur, professional, or student leader on campus, you are welcome to attend. We will gather on the outside patio to enjoy the spring air if weather permits or huddle in the shop if it does not.

The event is free. However, reservations are required.

Food and refreshments will be provided. Cash bar available.
